Even match?

Both teams have been in great form so far in the championship. Although Kilkenny will start he game as slight favourites, the match is very evenly poised. So who will come out on top?

Formidable opponents

Kilkenny certainly have history on their side, winning the last four meetings between the sides. Tipperary hurling legend John Leahy spoke about what makes Kilkenny such formidable opponents. “They don’t get carried away with all the hype. The team has changed so much but keeps winning and you have to admire their consistency”

This consistency would not be possible without having strong support around the team. When new players join the team, they know they have the support of everyone involved, from their fellow players and coaching staff to the fans. This support is a big part of the continued success.

Buoyed by confidence

On the other hand, Tipperary as confident they can repeat their 2010 success over their rivals, and bring the Liam McCarthy back to the ‘Premier’ county. Tipperary are riding the crest of a wave after their 10 point victory over rivals Cork in the semi-final, and will be buoyed by the confidence that win will bring.

Self belief

Leahy says; “Tipperary are coming off the back of a great confidence boost and maybe that air of confidence will kick in.” Self belief is a vital component in the success of a sports team, and this Tipperary team seem to have it in abundance. Tipperary won’t be overawed by their illustrious opponents and will take the fight to Kilkenny. Whatever the result, this game promises to be a cracking match.

Best of luck to both teams this Sunday.
