Men’s Health Week
This week is international Men’s Health Week. It’s no accident that it runs the same week that many countries have Father’s Day. We’re already thinking about one man this week, why not think about them all?
Celebrated internationally from Australia to the US, Ireland is no exception. Keeping the men in our lives fit and healthy is a big priority worldwide – obviously.
What’s it all about?
The theme for this year’s Men’s Health Week is ”Challenges, choices and celebrations – what’s your aim?”
There are three main goals:
- Raise awareness of preventable health issues
- Enable men and boys to live healthier lifestyles
- Encourage early detection and treatment of health issues.
Not just for men
The week tries to get us all involved in taking care of men’s health. This includes health professionals, sporting clubs, along with family and friends of any man. So, pretty much everybody then!
It’s especially important for men to take care of their well-being. Healthier lifestyles and early detection and treatment could do a lot to prevent premature death in men.
What can I do?
Well, funny you should ask, this year the Men’s Health Forum have put together a manual to help men (and others) look after their well-being.
The manual presents 10 simple health challenges. From alcohol to healthy eating, the manual outlines easy actions and where to find more information.
