Helping you get through tough times

Your mental health

Your mental health transcript

Mental health is like the Irish summer, some days might be lovely and bright when others would make you want you to run for cover. The ever changing state of your mood is a constant.

You need to equip yourself with the best utensils you can. Eating healthy and being active are some of the popular choices. While sometimes it might help to get your feelings out and onto a page. Set reachable short term goals and this may reduce stress.

Mindfulness can be a helpful aid. Mindfulness is the awareness and acceptance of yourself through your breath. It stops irrational response and anxiety. You must go through brain training but anyone can become a pro.

Awareness is half the battle, rational thinking is the challenge. Every time your mind tries to distract you go back to focusing on your breath. It is all about linking mind and body. Speak to family and friends for support, they may have had similar experiences and have advice.

If you would like to talk to an anonymous person ring the Samaritans at 116 123.

Therapy is also a popular option go to mymind.org to book an appointment.

If you are in immediate danger contact the emergency services on 112.
