Helping you get through tough times

Leaving Cert results

Sorry to be a buzzkill, but the Leaving Cert results are out this Wednesday. Though, if you’re affected by this, you’re more than likely very aware of this news.

It’s hard not to feel nervous in the couple of days before the results, no matter how you feel you did.

But, what’s hilarious is, suddenly everyone tells you it’s not the end of the world, there’s loads of ways to reach your goals, or sure years from now it will be mean nothing to you.

Well, right now, if you, or someone close to you is getting their results on Wednesday, it’s a really big deal.

What’s on your mind?

If you did loads of work and have high expectations, the wait can be agonising. If you did nothing and weren’t bothered, still a little pang of nerves can turn up. If things didn’t go your way for whatever reasons, during the exams, you could be really dreading them.

Right now, try to stay busy and have fun. Whatever happens you’ll be able to deal with it, and have loads of options.

Everyone else’s reactions

If you’re delighted with your results (WHOOP!), you may want to shout it from the rooftops. You may need to stop your mum or day from actually doing that. Just check-in with your friends, who mightn’t all be so happy.

While it can be tricky to know what to say, especially when you’ve done well, let them know you’re there if needed.

Managing how you feel about your results

Remember they’re your results and how you react to them is up to you.

Like lots of life’s milestones, it’s about how to get back up when you fall. Take a look at coping with exam results for some good tips.

Check out everything in the school leavers’ section for all the options available to you now. Best of luck!
