Chatting to the winner of Inspire a Generation
Jack Reardon’s film “Talking about tough times” was the overall winner in this year’s Inspire a Generation film competition.
What’s your film about?
It’s about the struggles young people face today and the affect it can have on them. It shows the pain that can be felt and some of the coping mechanisms people use in an attempt to manage.
Finally however, it shows the way to recovery, talking to someone and the relief and help it can bring.
What inspired you to make the film?
My film is inspired by countless stories I’ve heard of people my age and younger coping with problems.
The writing on the arm is to show self-harm in a way which isn’t too graphic but still gets the message across.
Were there any challenges in making this film?
Having to film, edit and star in the project was the biggest challenge. But, time and perseverance paid off.
What did you enjoy most about the process?
Researching the topic and deciding what I was going to do. Also, importantly, how I was going to make it was the best part.
Watch Talking about tough times to see what the fuss is about.
