Helping you get through tough times

CAST film festival calling for entries

It’s time to fish out the grease-paint, film-reel and lights as the CAST film festival  is now taking entries from budding film-makers around the country.

A multi-coloured kite in the skyThe festival was established last year with the aim of helping to shed light on societal issues, indeed CAST stands for ‘caring about society together’.

Mental health and wellbeing

The theme for 2014-2015 films is mental health, which is why we’re all so excited about this year’s festival.

Criteria for films entered

There are a few things to consider when planning your film. Among other things it:

  • must be no longer than five minutes
  • should be relevant, i.e. related to mental health
  • must show evidence of collaboration with a mental health organisation (hint – ReachOut.com perhaps?!)
  • should be publicised on social media during production and when completed – the more the better as there’s a prize up for grabs for your social media output.

See CAST’s information page for more details on entries.

Who can enter?

Anyone in Transition Year, or in the senior cycle of secondary school in Ireland can enter. It’s probably easier to enter as a group, so as part of your class or youth group etc.

Film screenings

Organisations involved in producing and entering films are expected to hold film screenings. But, that’s nothing to worry about, sure it’s half the fun!

Deadlines etc.

Your group can register online and then you have until Friday, 15 January 2015 to send in your film.

Onwards and upwards

Selected films will get the chance to showcase their work at a national event in Dublin, held in early 2015.

So that’s it. Have a look at all the details of the festival, get creating and good luck!
