NFL player forced to reset goals
New York Giant’s running back David Wilson discovered this week he’d have to retire from his career playing football in the National Football League after suffering a spinal injury. At 23 years old, Wilson only spent two seasons in the league.
“Try to find the best in situations”
Faced with retirement, it would be easy for Wilson to feel sorry for himself. Instead, he’s decided to focus on the good times he has had. He talks about how grateful he is for the time he spent in the NFL.
“Don’t for a second think I’m pitying myself, or sad. I got to live my dream.”
Wilson advises us to always find the best in your situation, and not to dwell on the negatives.
Even when things are getting you down, always look for the positives. This can be anything from friends and family, or hobby you enjoy. This will help you through the tough times.
“If you can look up, you can get up”
Life can knock you down sometimes. Everyone, at some point, will be faced with difficulties. There are always ways to deal with these challenges. As Wilson says:
“Always plan to fall on your back. If you can look up, you can get up”.
By “looking up”, we can set our sights on moving past the obstacles in our way. Then we can focus on “getting up”, actively dealing with our issues. Even when things are at their darkest, there are always means to overcome.
“I’ll set a new dream, and be great at that”
For Wilson, one dream is over. Instead of seeing it as the end, however, he’s viewing it as a new beginning.
“Even if one dream fades away, set another”
